Please be sure to read all of the rules carefully because your eligibility as a vendor in the market is dependent upon your clear understanding and adherence to them.
After reading the rules be sure to sign one copy and return it to Management {Omowale Sia} and keep one copy for your records. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these rules and regulations please contact Management prior to renting your space.
If you are planning on being more than a “one time” vendor you must attend a mandatory orientation. Call 240-464-0268 for details between the hours of 10am and 6pm Monday through Fridays.

FEES
The fee for one 9 x 17 space is $30.00 per day- CASH ONLY.
The fee for two 9 x 17 spaces is $50.00 per day -
CASH ONLY.
Note: DO NOT call ahead of time to reserve space. At this time we are not reserving space for vendors.
PAYMENT: You must have the fee for your space available when you enter to set up.
TAX ID
All vendors must have a valid Tax ID and are responsible for their own taxes. Vendors can obtain Tax ID's at 941 North Capitol Street N.E. Inspectors can show up and check any vendor at random so keep your Tax ID in your possession while vending at the market. Tax ID’s are free and are issued same day.
WHAT CAN BE SOLD AT THE MARKET
Most new and used items can be sold. No pornographic materials of any kind
including magazines, videos, photographs, DVD’s and etc. are allowed for sale or trade.
No Bootleg CD's, Videos, DVD’s are permitted to be sold or traded on the lot. Piracy is a serious crime and violators may be punishable by law.
No legal or illegal drugs are allowed to be sold or consumed on the lot. This includes beer, wine, hard liquor, marijuana, love boat, blunts, dippers and etc. Cigarettes can be smoked but not sold on the lot.
ANY VENDOR OR HELPERS WHO VIOLATE THESE RULES ARE SUBJECT TO PERMANENT DISMISSAL FROM THE FLEAMARKET.
Consult CSPC Handbook for Rules on Used Merchandise. CSPC handbooks will be given to each vendor. For more information please log onto www.cspc.gov.
FOOD VENDORS
Food vendors must have an up to date DC Food Certification License in order to sell food at the Fleamarket. Space for Food Vendors is only allowed by approval of the Market Manager. Call management for details on 240-464-0268. Only Food Vendors are allowed to sell water, snowballs, soda’s and other drinks.
TRASH
Every vendor should bring a small broom and dust pan to clean their area before leaving the lot. All merchandise and any debris must be carried away at the end of the day. No trash or merchandise is to be left on the lot or dumpsters or surrounding businesses dumpsters. Violators are subject to permanent dismissal.
SET-UP TIMES AND PROCEDURE FOR VENDORS AND THEIR HELPERS
All Vendors are required to enter through the 6th Street gate between the hours of 5:00am and 7:15am on Saturday and 6:00am and 8:15am on Sunday.
Note: If you are a vendor with a reserved space and you are not present by 7:15am on Saturday and 8:15am on Sunday your space will be rented to the next available person.
If you want to vend, Vendors must agree to stay until at least 2:00pm except for emergencies.
Follow these steps when coming to the market to vend and leaving the market after vending.
After entering the lot and being assigned space unload all of your merchandise before setting up.
Park your vehicle in the designated spaces - Gallaudet University for small cars, pick-up trucks, suv’s and etc. Large trucks in the rear parking lot or on the street.
Set up merchandise for the day.
WHEN LOADING MERCHANDISE TO LEAVE FOR THE DAY
Pack all merchandise for the day before retrieving your vehicle.
Bring your vehicle to your area.
Load merchandise and make an orderly exit from lot.
RETURN POLICIES
Management does not dictate vendor return policies. All vendors are required to post signage that clearly states their return policy. Make sure that this signage is in an area where your customers can clearly see it. If necessary, be sure to inform the customer {s} about your policy before they make a purchase from you. This will prevent any disputes that may arise. If there is a dispute between a vendor and a customer that can’t be resolved, Management will have the final say regarding the matter.
If you have no signage, Management will side with the customer most of the time.

Electrical outlets will only be used to check merchandise at time of customer purchase. Extension cords will no longer be allowed to stretch across the parking lot. This is a safety hazard and is by order of Gallaudet University.
Generators are allowed but must be turned off unless you are testing merchandise for customers.
No weapons of any kind are allowed on the lot!!!!!! Violators will be subjected to immediate and permanent dismissal for this violation.
PARKING
Free parking is provided for all vendors and customers. A green parking permit is provided by management. All vendors must have valid driver’s license and
insurance. In addition, all helpers must also have a valid driver’s license. Vendors and their helpers must park their vehicles in their designated spaces.
Vendors with large trucks will park in the rear parking lot or on the street. Vendors and their helpers must park their vehicles in designated space. Vendor and their helpers with Small Cars, Vans, Pick-up Trucks, SUV's and etc. must park in Gallaudet's Garage located directly across from the fleamarket on 6th Street Saturdays and Sundays.
Parking exceptions will be made for vendors with up to date disabled tags. Parking is free and patrolled by security.
Vendors and their helpers with large trucks that can’t fit in the garage must park on the rear lot of the Fleamarket or on the street. No vendor is to park on the Subway Sandwich Shop parking lot or on other business parking lots in the area.
***VENDORS WHO VIOLATE THESE RULES WILL BE PERMANENTLY DISMISSED FROM THE LOT.***
WEATHER
In the event of inclement weather management will make the decision to open the market or not or to close the market early or not. Concerning the weather vendors who do decide to set-up must pay for the entire day. If you set up you must pay for the entire day.
CONDUCT
Friends in the Marketplace: The Funky Fleamarket is a family friendly market that promotes positivity, no fighting, loud shouting, profanity, racial slurs, etc. is allowed. No drinking or smoking illegal or legal drugs by vendors or their helpers is allowed. Vendors are responsible for their helper’s behavior. If vendors can’t control their helpers then that vendor will be asked to leave. If you have a dispute with another vendor their help or with a customer contact security and or Management and Management will have the final word in all the disputes. Positively no firearms allowed on lot. Any violators will be immediately and permanently dismissed. Vendors who bring pets, dogs, cats or etc. must keep them on a leash or carry them at all times.
BOOTHS
Vendors who sell clothing, new or used must have racks for their clothing or have them folded on tables. You are allowed to hang clothes on the fence behind your space. All clothes must be folded if displayed on tables. Clothes can be on “on ground” in plastic bins only. No boxes or bags allowed. Clothing that are in plastic bins must be monitored and put back in bins after customers pull them out.
All vendors must have tablecloths to hide their boxes and containers underneath and contribute to the overall appearance of the market. Tablecloth colors are white, black or red or any combination of two or all three colors.
Every vendor is required to have tents. A reasonable amount of time will be given to comply. Management will be renting tables, tents and chairs in the future. Contact Management and check the website for updates.
SIGNAGE AND OTHER ADVERTISING
If you are a permanent or regular vendor we encourage you to have signage on your tent and or tables.

Prices should be posted for merchandise whenever possible. Business cards promoting your business and its location is a must. Friends in the Marketplace: The Funky Fleamarket will continue to advertise and promote the market via our website {www.thefunkyfleamarket.com} Radio, email, magazine ad newspaper and door to door flyers as well as print media {postcards, business cards and etc.}

DELIVERY
The Friends in the Marketplace: The Funky Fleamarket has two delivery people that we contract with to make deliveries from our lot

If you need something delivered ask them directly or contact management. This is for your protection as vendors. Please be sure to review all merchandise to be delivered with your customer {s} and the delivery person before it leaves the lot. This is for your benefit. If there are any disputes regarding merchandise once it leaves the lot management will have the final say regarding the matter.
